Death on the Nile is a 2022 mystery thriller film directed by Kenneth Branagh from a screenplay by Michael Green, based on the 1937 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie. Produced by Branagh, Ridley Scott, Judy Hofflund and Kevin J. Walsh, the film is a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and stars Branagh returning as Hercule Poirot, along with Tom Bateman (also returning from the first film), Annette Bening, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders, and Letitia Wright round out the ensemble cast. The film is the third screen adaptation of Christie’s novel, following the 1978 film and an episode of the television series Agatha Christie’s Poirot broadcast in 2004.

Death on the Nile 2022 Film Review:

The 2 hours screen time is quite okay, but the transition can sometimes feel forced.

Armie Harmer’s acting is the worst thing in the movie. I sat in the cinema beside my brother who knew nothing about the story and he predicted the ending quite early, all thanks to Armie Harmer’s horrendous crying. I need to commend Kenneth Branagh and Emma Mackey for those briliant acting. The expressions on their face is potrayed brilliantly and both of them carried the whole movie.

Overral, it’s a slick and enjoyable remake which will please and introduce Christie’s world to younger generations. If you are an avid Christie’s fan, expect a lot of changes from the book (minor spoiler : what I dislike the most is that they change the most prominent characteristic of our fave detective in the end). But if you are general audience who love Kenneth Branagh’s Murder in The Orient Express, you’ll love this one too!
